Biomass accounts for a third of Sweden’s energy

Biomass now generates 32% of all energy in Sweden, surpassing oil, according to Wood Resource Quarterly.
The increased competition for logs and wood chips has caused prices to rise, with pulplog prices now almost 20% higher than five years ago and 36% higher than 10 years ago.
Sweden’s government plans to have renewable energy reach 50% of the total energy consumed in t he country by 2010.
