Christopher Lowell to speak at TAPPI Decorative and Industrial Laminates Symposium
Premier designer Christopher Lowell will be the featured speaker at an August 22, 2006 luncheon as part of the TAPPI Decorative and Industrial Laminates Symposium, August 21-23, 2006 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Mr. Lowell is an Emmy™ award winning TV host and creator of his own line of signature products.
His design insights are regularly conveyed through his acclaimed television programs and in his books, one of which is the Seven Layers of Design. Mr. Lowell’s influence can be seen in countertop surface, office workstation and ready-to-assemble furniture designs. These products typically contain materials that are supplied by companies attending TAPPI’s Decorative and Industrial Laminates Committee Symposium.
At the luncheon, Mr. Lowell will expand on themes covered in his Seven Layers of Design book. Key among them is his warning “Remember that fear is the number-one reason why things remain the same in the home. Where there is fear, there is no creativity. By dispelling fear, you unleash creativity…” His mantra of facing fear head on resonates equally well with consumers and businesses alike who cling to the status quo. An autograph session will follow his presentation.
In addition to Mr. Lowell’s appearance, the Symposium will feature a range of educational sessions covering laminates, new products and processes, environmental updates, and a review of marketplace activities. Also, a second class of industry pioneers will be inducted into the group’s Hall of Fame, and there will be table top exhibits of industry products and services.
