PFLEIDERER INVESTS IN LARGE LACQUERING LINE USING KLEIBERIT HOTCOATING TECHNOLOGY
At the Interzum fair in Cologne 2017 Pfleiderer will disclose further details about its new lacquering technology. Using an innovative HotCoating procedure, a high-quality multi-layer UV-cured acrylic lacquer is applied to wood-based materials. With a length of 165 metres, the new line being built at the Leutkirch/Germany site is the largest Hot Coating plant in the world. It is planned to go on stream in the first quarter of 2018.
The new plant allows for high gloss and super matt lacquering of particleboard and MDF in the format 2,800x2,100 mm. The new lacquered surfaces will be used mainly for high-quality kitchen fronts as well as in high-end interior design, such as living room and bedroom furniture or sliding doors. “Thanks to their innovative multi-layer lacquering, the surfaces have an outstanding machining stability”, says Michael Scheller, responsible for product management, research and development at Pfleiderer: “This prevents chipping and cracks in sawing, milling and drilling”, resulting in a highly resistant surface that will be available in a large variety of decors. HPL, direct laminated and lacquered surfaces in matching decors from one source “Our new products from the HotCoating line will match our DecoBoard and Duropal HPL products so that our customers can get HPL direct laminated and lacquered surfaces in matching decors from a single source, “says Scheller. In addition, all of Pfleiderer’s super matt surfaces are resistant to fingerprinting and easy to clean. HotCoating high gloss has also the advantage of lending plain decors a particular color depth and minor shine. Lacquered HPL Compact for outdoor use. With their matt, weatherproof surfaces, lacquered HPL Compact boards are also suitable or outdoor use. The lacquered Compact manufactured using HotCoating technology will be available in the waste-efficient dimension of 2.800x2.070 mm. Possible areas of application balconies, outdoor furniture, gable cladding and children’s playgrounds. Pfleiderer to invest arould 12 million Euros in a new surface technology. “These products are not only a useful complement to our range of high-quality functional panels”, explains Scheller: “With them we are entering a new generation of surface technology.” Pfleiderer will invest around 12 million Euros in the lacquering line that is being installed in close cooperation with lacquer and glue specialist Kleiberit.
